Terms of Service & Refund Policy

Thank you for visiting Joannacreatesart.com! Here are my terms of service to ensure transparency and a smooth, reliable experience. By placing an order or commission, you agree to the terms below:
Products Sold in Store
These terms apply to any products appearing on my store page or sold in person at events.
Because my products include limited edition and original artwork, my policy is different for these types:
1. Standard Products
Standard products are items that do not have the limited edition label - such as stickers and non-embellished prints. If any of these products arrive damaged, are lost in transit, or are incorrect - please email me for a full refund or a replacement to be shipped to you free of charge.
2. Limited Edition Items
Limited edition items are clearly labeled as such. For damages or loss of these special products, I will ship a replacement standard print with a half refund and certificate of proof for the limited edition item that was lost. These limited edition items take time to make so I'm unable to issue full refunds. If you have any questions please email me.
3. Original Artwork
Original artwork is always shipped with care, but once it is in the mail system there's no way for me to personally ensure it arrives. Should an original be lost, at personal sorrow to me, I will send a one-of-a-kind print with embellishment to match the original. You will also get a certificate of proof for the lost original, along with a 25% refund for the price of the artwork.
4. Shipping and Handling
My items are shipped within 3-5 business days domestic (USA) and 7-10 days International. Please note that these time frames are estimates and your item may arrive sooner or later - however, I always send shipping updates to the email you placed the order with. For inquiries or requests for rush shipping please email me.
Commissions and Client Work
My commissions come with a contract (sample available upon request) but here are my general terms of service for client work.
1. Traditional Artwork
Traditional art that is commissioned, such as pet portraits, follow the same policy as buying original art from my storefront. All clients who commission traditional art also receive an HD digital scan and certificate of authenticity. Please reach out for questions through email.
2. Ownership and Rights
Joanna Becker retains copyright and ownership of all artwork created - including portraits. The client gives Joanna permission to create artwork matching photos sent by the client, and ensures that the client has ownership or permission to use the photos provided to Joanna. The client is not permitted to reprint commissioned art without permission from Joanna. Please discuss rights buyout for business and commercial commissions. Joanna does not resell personal client commission work or imagery, but retains the full rights for portfolio and social use. If you wish your commission to stay hidden, please email me.
3. Refunding
Commissions
Commissions that are cancelled by Joanna are fully refunded in these rare cases. Otherwise, clients are sent a quote, a contract, and an invoice after the commission is approved. Once the contract and invoice are signed, the client can cancel the work and be refunded as follows: if cancellation occurs before any work begins, 100% can be refunded. At the sketch stage %75 can be refunded. Once final artwork begins, the work is no longer refundable (unless cancelled by Joanna). Throughout the process, Joanna will update the client when these thresholds are reached and the client can reach out for an update at any time.
4. Alterations and Edits
Joanna offers revisions and edits for custom artwork commissions as follows: After the sketches are sent the client can request any major changes (anything can be altered completely at this point). After sketch is approved by client, the finalization begins and the artwork is sent for approval again. There can be minor changes, such as color, but major changes will be another charge as these should have been made in the sketch phase. Price for the change is discussed, and the invoice is resigned when both parties approve of the change and fee.
